* Weds, 31 March, at Kohia Teachers Resource Centre, Auckland - Peace Foundation youth gathering as a precursor to the Hague Appeal for Peace Conference. Young people from 13-25 are invited to attend and make presentations around peace issues. During the day it will be to other young people and in the evening we plan to have a group of decision-makers for them to present to.

* 9-11 April, New Zealand Green Dollar Conference 1999, Masterton. Wairarapa Green Dollar Exchange members are gearing up for a stimulating and exciting Local Employment Trading System (LETS) 1999 annual conference. With a conference theme of 'Community in Balance', the keynote speaker is London-based social economist, Dr Peter North.  Guest panelists and workshop leaders include Alan Fricker of the Wellington Sustainable Futures Trust; the Mayor of Masterton Bob Francis who also heads the Masterton Business Enterprise Group and computer software inventor Vince Martin-Smith. * 21 - 29 March - International Festival of Women's Performance Wellington and Paekakariki - an absolutely total extravaganza of women's performance has begun. For those of you who like your performance with a political flavour, you will need to attend the whole festival ! If you are particularly interested in Latin America, make a point of seeing Ana Woolf's (Argentina) new show 'Las Lagrimas / After the Tears', about Madres de Plaza de Mayo (the Mothers of the Disappeared) ... or Lucy Bolanos and Teatro La Mascara (Colombia) 'Los Perfiles de la Espera' also about the disappeared ...

From Former Yugoslavia, Dah Teatar (Belgrade) are not to be missed - as the programme says "they present theatre that has been devised and rehearsed against the background of civil war. Despite the war in Yugoslavia, Dah Teatar chose not to work in exile - but to stay put and make performances that are wise and compassionate."

1 - 3 April - Te Ao Te Tohatoha Mohiotanga - in Paekakariki, a unique event that captures the knowledge and skill of indigenous women - performance, workshops - there will be a high level of celebration and communication among those who attend this special event !
